The tower was completed in 1974 by the Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company, and was known as the Independent Life Building. The design concept included a sloping base and the larger corner frames to provide a distinctive image not only for the company, but also as an identifying landmark for the city of Jacksonville. The Architect received the Honor Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design by the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture for the Modis Building. |

The AT&T Tower, also known as AT&T Building, is a skyscraper in Jacksonville. Standing 447 feet (136 m) tall it is currently the city's third-tallest building but largest in terms of class "A" rentable area with 956,201 ft. |

The Riverplace Tower is a 28 floor office building on the south bank of the St. Johns River in Jacksonville. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest building in Jacksonville and the defining landmark in the skyline. It remained the tallest for eight years until the Independent Life (now Modis) was built in 1974. In 2007, 40 years after its construction, Riverplace Tower was still the 5th tallest building in Jacksonville. |
